Attending to Areas of Greatness

The majority of us concentrate our energy on improving our weaknesses rather than focusing on our strengths. The result of this is that we don’t spend sufficient time developing our talents to their full potential.

It makes so much more sense to spend those “10 000” hours of practice developing expertise in the areas of our gifts and talents.  We will achieve greater success, feel a sense of accomplishment and make a meaningful contribution to our community.

I am not suggesting that we are “blind” to our areas of weakness.  It is so important to be aware of the areas we need development.  If they are holding us back from reaching our full potential, we need to address them and spend some time working on them.  Part of that work is acceptance of our flaws and how we can work with them so that they don’t hold us back.  More importantly, our work is to really appreciate the value of our gifts and how we can reach the pinnacle of our journey.
